LiposuctionOur practice utilizes two liposuction techniques, depending on our patients' goals and body type. For patients who have experienced difficulty losing weight in localized areas of the body, Conventional suction-assisted liposuction (SAL) may be the solution. In certain parts of the body – including the lower stomach, thighs, hips, under the chin, and the love handles – fatty deposits can build up that cannot be eliminated with conventional weight-loss methods. With conventional liposuction, those fatty deposits can be removed instantly. Conventional liposuction is not intended to remove a significant amount of that fat. Rather, it is used to sculpt those stubborn sections and re-contour the body. The result will be a more flattering proportion and a smoother figure. Ultrasonic liposuction (UAL) allows fat to be emulsified by sonic sound waves and slowly removed via a suction wand. The advantages of ultrasonic liposuction lie in the surgeon’s ability to remove a much larger amount of fat from the body during the procedure. There is also evidence that this procedure is less traumatic to the patient than conventional liposuction, and results in less blood loss and damage to surrounding tissue. If you would like to learn more about body sculpting, please contact our San Antonio practice to set up a consultation. Our doctors can help you decide liposuction treatment is best for you. Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)Abdominoplasty, or tummy tuck, is designed to tighten the loose skin of the stomach and strengthen the muscles in the abdominal wall, literally “tucking” and strengthening your stomach. An abdominoplasty is often combined with liposuction for body sculpting purposes, to eliminate excess fat and skin. If you have had multiple child births or find that the skin around your abdomen has been irreparably stretched, you may be a candidate for an abdominoplasty. We urge patients to remember that this procedure, while common, is nevertheless considered major surgery and will result in a significant scar. Your expected results will depend upon the condition of your skin (elasticity), and the amount of excess fat and skin that needs to be removed. Our doctors' expertise in abdominoplasty techniques has been featured in the national magazine ANEW. Read the article here for answers to tummy tuck FAQs and to learn more about the procedure. Please visit our before and after gallery to view photos of patients who have undergone an abdominoplasty at PRMA. Mini Abdominoplasty (Mini Tummy Tuck)For patients with loose skin and excess fat concentrated in the lower abdomen, we offer a mini-abdominoplasty, known as a “mini tummy-tuck.” This procedure requires less skin removal and a smaller incision, and may be a better option for patients who are looking for a less complex procedure. For more information about abdominoplasty or mini-abdominoplasty, please contact our San Antonio practice today.
