PRMA Performs 5,000th Free Flap Breast Reconstruction

Congratulations are in order this morning as PRMA celebrates its 5000th free flap breast reconstruction – a milestone the whole team is smiling about!

“This is a huge accomplishment for us,” says PRMA co-founder Dr. Peter Ledoux. “We started out as this very small practice in 1994 and now we have 7 surgeons and are performing these state-of-the-art procedures on a daily basis. We feel very blessed.”

PRMA is one of the only centers in the country to perform such a high volume of breast reconstruction procedures.

“Breast reconstruction is what we do,” says Ledoux. “It isn’t something we do on the side or just once in a while. We are performing these surgeries on a daily basis and that’s why people come to us.”

PRMA continues to lead the way in advanced breast reconstruction as one of the largest, most renowned centers specializing in free flap surgeries like the sought-after DIEP flap.

Currently there are only about 40 surgeons in the country specializing in the DIEP, with 7 of those surgeons practicing at PRMA.

“We are proud to have such a great team here at PRMA and are looking forward to what the future brings,” says Ledoux.

Congratulations to the entire PRMA team!

Can you send me any of the latest info on Lat Dorsi surgery, variations on this type of surgery, success rate, reported complications, studies, etc. I’ve heard some facilities are not doing this surgery any longer? Do you know the rationale why? Any info would be appreciated as this is being suggested to me, and I’m concerned about this decision. Thank you!
