PRMA Surgeons Share Their COVID-19 Vaccine Experiences_

Currently, the state of Texas is administering COIVD-19 vaccines to healthcare workers and individuals 65 and older, or those who have underlying health conditions that increase their risk for sever COVID symptoms.  To do our part in the fight against the corona virus and to protect our patients, many of our surgeons and staff received the vaccine.

Because so many have been curious, we thought we would share a few of the surgeons’ experiences with their vaccines.

Dr. Ledoux shared that he had a sore arm for about 36 hours after each shot.  He also said he experienced a little headache. Overall, he stated the vaccine side effects for him were very similar to his annual flu shot.

Dr. Chrysopoulo experienced the same soreness in his arm at the injection site for about 2 days.  He also compared his arm discomfort to be like his annual flu shot.  After his first shot he also experience a moderate headache for about 24 hours.  After his second shot though, he only experienced minimal injection site pain, but he did feel extremely fatigued for 24 hours.

Dr. Arishita never experienced any soreness after the first or second shot.  He did feel a little tired the day after the second shot, but nothing else.  “I feel much safer having had the vaccine but I am still very careful and I am the only one if my family that has been vaccinated,” he shared.

Like the other co-surgeons at PRMA, Dr. Ochoa had a sore arm for about two days after both of his shots.  However, unlike the others, he did report feeling under the weather and slightly nauseated the day after his shots.  Luckily, the symptoms were mild and he did not need to take any medication.

Dr. Nastala described his experience as “very positive.”  He had no symptoms after the first shot and only felt a little tired for a few hours the day after his second shot.

We hope that providing you with this information can help alleviate any fears you may have before getting your vaccine.  If you are unsure about getting your shots, we recommend discussing your concerns with your primary care provider.

I feel much safer having had the vaccine but I am still very careful and I am the only one if my family that has been vaccinated.
