After experiencing chronic pain following implant breast reconstruction, Wanda chose to remove her implants and undergo DIEP flap reconstruction at PRMA Plastic Surgery in San Antonio, Texas.

My name is Wanda and I am from San Antonio, Texas.  I am a patient of Dr. Pisano. I had DIEP flap surgery on 12-2-17 and I wanted to take a moment to compliment on what an outstanding job he and his team did.

My journey began in Oct 2013, when “something” was found on a mammogram. I was 40 years old. Long story short that “something” was cancer. I lived in Indiana at the time and had a double mastectomy with breast implants put in immediately after. Both of my surgeons were great and did a wonderful job.

In June of 2015, we moved to San Antonio. I never fully recovered after my double mastectomy. In fact, I only continued to get sicker and sicker with no explanation as to why. I began doing my own research and found out about BII (breast implant illness).

I was referred to PRMA by a friend. I called for an appointment, I believe I spoke with Heidi, she told me everything I would need before I could get an appointment. This completely overwhelmed me as getting out of bed and getting through the day was a struggle. I didn’t do anything and 2 weeks later Heidi called me back to see if I had gotten the documents needed to get an appointment. I said no! She began helping me get the documents I needed and I finally got an appointment.

Dr. Pisano was the first of many doctors to explain why I was having the back and neck pain on a daily basis. This was very reassuring. I decided to proceed forward with implant removal and DIEP flap reconstruction, got insurance approval and a surgery date.

I am a little over 4 weeks post-op and feel amazing! I feel better then I have felt in almost 4 years. My thoughts are different, my outlook on life is different, everything is different! I am finally my old self again.

I can not thank y’all enough for doing everything that has been done for me. I have made may phone calls, e-mails and appointments and not one time was anything mishandled, EVER! I should also state that I am a detail oriented person, a micro-manager, and y’all have nailed it! Your efforts have not gone unnoticed.

At my pre-op appointment I had to pay $900 and the gal (I can’t remember her name) was very pleasant and comforting to deal with. I was almost happy and excited to pay her! LOL

I just wanted to thank everyone for giving me my life back. There are no words that can explain how much this means to me.

I started a part time job back in June and was just promoted to Manager!! I’m so excited for the future for the first time in 4 years.
